The Five Bells Community Society
The Five Bells Community Society (FBCS) is the legal organisation that aims to buy, refurbish and run The Five Bells as a community pub. FBCS is a Community Benefit Society which is currently in the process of registration with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
FBCS will have Members who can be anyone wishing to support The Five Bells.
A Community Benefit Society is a not-for-profit business that is designed to serve the interests of a community. Society profits can only be paid out for the benefit of the community, typically by giving grants to other community projects or groups.
Members will join the society and are then able to vote at the Annual General Meeting or any other general meetings of the Society. FBCS will be run democratically on the basis of one-member-one-vote.
FBCS will be governed by its Rules which will be publicly available. The founders of FBCS have chosen to use the model rules drafted by Plunkett UK which is a foundation that supports UK community owned businesses.
